And now, this week's episode.

Speaker:

A question I saw on a Facebook group the other day

Speaker:

was one that I see online quite a bit,

Speaker:

and that's how many ads should you have

Speaker:

in your podcast episode?

Speaker:

And while there's no general rule on this,

Speaker:

you don't want to overload your listeners with ads.

Speaker:

So what I tend to do is make sure there's about 15 to 20 minutes between each ad.

Speaker:

So if you've got an hour long episode, you probably have 3 to 4 ads in there.

Speaker:

One might be your pre-roll, then 15 minutes later you'd have a mid-roll,

Speaker:

then at 30 minutes another mid-roll, and at 45 minutes another mid-roll,

Speaker:

and then a post-roll to close it out with your outro.

Speaker:

If your episode is shorter, you can play it by ear.

Speaker:

But generally I think a good compromise is no more than one ad every 15 minutes.

Speaker:

Until next time, happy podcasting.

Danny Brown

Danny Brown is the host of One Minute Podcast Tips, the show that helps you be a better podcaster in just a minute a week. He's also hosted, and co-hosted, several other podcasts - if you called him a serial podcaster, you wouldn't be wrong! He's been in the podcasting space for over 10 years, and has the scars to prove it.

He's the Head of Podcaster Support and Experience at Captivate.fm, the world's only growth-oriented podcast hosting, distribution, analytics, and monetization platform for the serious indie podcaster.

He lives in beautiful Muskoka, Ontario, Canada with his wife and two kids, where he spends winters in front of a cozy fire and summers by the lake. Well, when he finds time away from podcasting, of course...
