How Soon Can You Look for Podcast Sponsors?

A lot of people will tell you that you can't attract sponsors for your podcast until you've got thousands of downloads per episode.

The good news is, that's not true - and here's how you can attract sponsors to your podcast.

Danny:

One of the most popular questions online is, can I get sponsors if I don't have a lot of downloads on my show? And the simple answer is, yes, you can. Now, a lot of people will tell you that you need thousands upon thousands of downloads per episode before you can attract sponsors. But they're thinking more about advertising, where you do get paid by the amount of downloads you have. So if your podcast is one of these shows that has tens of thousands of downloads per episode in the first 30 days, great. You can use advertising and you'll get paid a decent whack.

Danny:

But for the majority of podcasters, sponsorship is the way to go. And the good news is, you don't need thousands upon thousands of downloads per episode. Instead, there's a few ways you can attract sponsors, even with just a few hundred downloads per episode. If your podcast has a really targeted niche, if you have a nice engaged audience, if you can show social proof with newsletter subscribers. Now, you might think, well, I've only got 100 listeners. How am I going to attract sponsors? But think about it - if your podcast is in a targeted niche and you can show a potential sponsor that you've got 100 dedicated listeners, think about your sponsor as a retailer. If you can send 100 customers to their shop every time a new episode drops, that's a warm lead that any business would like.

Danny:

So while you may not have thousands upon thousands of downloads per episode, you can definitely attract sponsors. Until the next time, happy podcasting.

Danny:
