And now, this week's episode.

Speaker:

When it comes to recording your podcast episodes,

Speaker:

there are pros and cons of batch recording.

Speaker:

Batch recording is where you record a bunch of episodes and schedule them ready for future publishing.

Speaker:

Now as mentioned, there are pros and cons to this.

Speaker:

The pros include getting ahead of your schedule, and that means you've got more time to yourself.

Speaker:

So that can cover vacations, quiet times, or just want to take a break from the show and recharge your batteries.

Speaker:

It can also help you pre-plan promotions and marketing for your episodes.

Speaker:

And if you're ill, it doesn't mean you're scrambling around trying to record an episode.

Speaker:

I'm a little bit under the weather today, as you might be able to hear,

Speaker:

so recording this ahead of time would have helped a lot.

Speaker:

But there are cons.

Speaker:

For one, it's a lot of work,

Speaker:

because you're recording, editing and scheduling

Speaker:

a whole bunch of episodes at the same time.

Speaker:

Additionally, your schedule can change without warning.

Speaker:

So, if you're planning ahead and you need to change dates,

Speaker:

you're having to juggle your content calendar

Speaker:

to try and make the episodes fit.

Speaker:

Now, if you've already told your guests or your listeners

Speaker:

what date a particular episode's coming out

Speaker:

and you need to change that,

Speaker:

that can also mess up your calendar.

Speaker:

And if a news story about a future topic broke

Speaker:

and you want to take advantage,

Speaker:

having it pre-recorded can make that difficult.

Speaker:

It really comes down to your own personal preference and your own workflow,

Speaker:

but it definitely can help if you want to plan ahead.

Speaker:

Until the next time, happy podcasting.

Speaker:

Thanks for listening.
