Danny:

You're listening to One Minute Podcast Tips. I'm your host, Danny Brown, and each episode helps you be a better podcaster. Find all the latest episodes at oneminutepodcasttips.com or free wherever you get podcasts. And now this week's episode.

Danny:

One of the questions that frequently comes up is should I have a podcast website? And while you can let listeners just listen on their favourite podcast app, it's always, always useful to have a podcast website for your show. And here's why.

Danny:

If a podcast app disappears, and some have over the years, then any listener that uses that, if they don't want to change the app, they're going to lose access to your podcast. With a podcast website, they've always got somewhere to come and listen. Additionally, you can have other features on there like a shop, email newsletter, online forum, premium subscribers, a whole lot of features, and it's awesome for SEO value as well. So if people are looking for the topic of your episode and you've optimized your show notes really well, then hopefully your episode will appear in that search, bringing new listeners to your podcast.

Danny:

So I always recommend having a podcast website, whether that's a free one with your podcast host or a self hosted one on WordPress, Wix or Weebly, etc. Until the next time, happy podcasting.

Danny:

Danny Brown

Danny Brown is the host of One Minute Podcast Tips, the show that helps you be a better podcaster in just a minute a week. He's been in the podcasting space for over 10 years, and has the scars to prove it.

He's the Head of Podcaster Support and Experience at Captivate.fm, the world's only growth-oriented podcast hosting, distribution, analytics, and monetization platform for the serious indie podcaster.

He lives in beautiful Muskoka, Ontario, Canada with his wife and two kids, where he spends winters in front of a cozy fire and summers by the lake. Well, when he finds time away from podcasting, of course...
