Why It's Important to Keep Your Podcast Trailer Up-to-Date

I've spoken before about the importance of having a trailer for your podcast. There are a few reasons, but the main one is it's one of the most effective ways of promoting your show to new listeners.

This is why it's key to keep your podcast trailer up to date, so potential listeners know exactly what to expect from your show.

Speaker:

I've spoken before about the importance

Speaker:

of having a trailer for your podcast.

Speaker:

There are a few reasons,

Speaker:

But the main one is it's one of the most effective ways of promoting your show to new listeners.

Speaker:

However, it's only effective if it's relevant to where your show is now.

Speaker:

Most podcasts go through some kind of evolution, whether that's a new format,

Speaker:

frequency of publishing, or even new co-hosts since the show was first published.

Speaker:

This is why it's key to keep your podcast trailer up to date,

Speaker:

so potential listeners know exactly what to expect from your show.

Speaker:

This can include a new trailer for each season if your podcast uses that format.

Speaker:

The main thing is, a trailer needs to have the most up-to-date information about your show.

Speaker:

It's no good saying you can get new episodes every Friday if you change your publishing schedule to Tuesdays.

Speaker:

So take a look at the last time you updated your trailer and if the details are still relevant.

Speaker:

If not, record a new one and replace the current one.

Speaker:

Your new listeners will thank you.

Speaker:

Until the next time, happy podcasting.

Speaker:

Thanks for listening.

Speaker:

Danny Brown

Danny Brown is the host of One Minute Podcast Tips, the show that helps you be a better podcaster in just a minute a week. He's also hosted, and co-hosted, several other podcasts - if you called him a serial podcaster, you wouldn't be wrong! He's been in the podcasting space for over 10 years, and has the scars to prove it.

He's the Head of Podcaster Support and Experience at Captivate.fm, the world's only growth-oriented podcast hosting, distribution, analytics, and monetization platform for the serious indie podcaster.

He lives in beautiful Muskoka, Ontario, Canada with his wife and two kids, where he spends winters in front of a cozy fire and summers by the lake. Well, when he finds time away from podcasting, of course...
