And now, this week's episode.

Speaker:

A podcast trailer is great for letting potential listeners know

Speaker:

what your show is about,

Speaker:

as well as helping promote your show on

Speaker:

social media, newsletters and elsewhere. But how long should a podcast trailer be?

Speaker:

Well one thing to remember is it's not the same as a podcast introductory

Speaker:

episode. An introductory episode is more like a normal episode and can last

Speaker:

anywhere between 5 and 10 minutes. A trailer on the other hand is short, punchy

Speaker:

and is meant to act as a quick way for you to tell listeners what to expect

Speaker:

from your podcast. Ideally a trailer should have who you are, what the podcast

Speaker:

is about, what listeners can expect as takeaways, how often you publish, what

Speaker:

days you publish and where to find your podcast. The length of time can vary but

Speaker:

most effective trailers are normally between 60 and 90 seconds. That's long

Speaker:

enough to get across what you need and short enough to keep it punchy. Until the

Speaker:

next time, happy podcasting. If you're enjoying One Minute Podcast Tips,

you find the show too. Until the next time, happy podcasting.

Danny Brown

Danny Brown is the host of One Minute Podcast Tips, the show that helps you be a better podcaster in just a minute a week. He's also hosted, and co-hosted, several other podcasts - if you called him a serial podcaster, you wouldn't be wrong! He's been in the podcasting space for over 10 years, and has the scars to prove it.

He's the Head of Podcaster Support and Experience at Captivate.fm, the world's only growth-oriented podcast hosting, distribution, analytics, and monetization platform for the serious indie podcaster.

He lives in beautiful Muskoka, Ontario, Canada with his wife and two kids, where he spends winters in front of a cozy fire and summers by the lake. Well, when he finds time away from podcasting, of course...
