One of the most effective ways to make money with your podcast is through listener tips, donations and memberships. Especially if you're a podcast that doesn't have thousands and thousands of downloads.
Because it's a win win for both podcaster and listener, it gives listeners various options to support your show and it lets you, the podcaster, offer some cool rewards for these listeners. To be even more effective, here are some ways to make it super simple for listeners to support you.
If it's a one off tip or donation, don't overcomplicate with multiple amount options. Instead, either make a couple of default amounts or let the listener choose their own.
If it's a membership option, make every tier different from each other so each one shows a visible change from the previous one and make the benefits of each clear and obvious.
For memberships, offer a free trial. Memberships can still be tricky for some listeners to understand, so a free trial is a great way to show why they'd want to upgrade and pay the premium membership. Create a personal message and have that on your membership or donation page and be genuine while you truly appreciate their support.
And be sure to thank your supporters where possible and give shouts on your podcast and show your audience their support means something by making the choices easy and making sure you recognize those listeners. Tips and memberships can be one of the best ways to monetize your podcast. Until the next time, happy podcasting.
