And now, this week's episode.

Speaker:

One of the questions I see online a bit

Speaker:

is whether to use a script for your podcast.

Speaker:

Now, ignoring audio fiction for a moment, because obviously you want a script for that

Speaker:

there's pros and cons to using a script for your show

Speaker:

whether it's a solo show, an interview show, a co-host or anything like that.

Speaker:

The pros obviously it keeps you on track

Speaker:

so you've got all your questions ready to go, your talking points and everything in front of you

Speaker:

so you don't really veer from the main topic.

Speaker:

However, the pro can also be its con -

Speaker:

by having everything in front of you, you can lose that organic feel

Speaker:

where you're just having a conversation

Speaker:

and you're now reading from bullet points in front of you or questions in front of you.

Speaker:

It also means that sometimes you're not listening to your guest,

Speaker:

if you've got a guest on your show, because you're looking at the next question,

Speaker:

as opposed to listening to your guest and then taking the conversation in the direction an answer takes you.

Speaker:

So, there's definitely pros and there's definitely cons,

Speaker:

and really it comes down to your comfort zone.

Speaker:

Do you feel comfortable reading from bullet points in a script?

Speaker:

Or do you feel more comfortable with it being more organic,

Speaker:

with the conversation going in a more organic direction?

Speaker:

The choice really is yours.

Speaker:

But it is a good idea to have at least some bullet points ready,

Speaker:

and that way you will be able to keep the conversation on track.

Speaker:

Until the next time, happy podcasting.
