Speaker:And now, this week's episode.
Speaker:One of the questions I see online a bit
Speaker:is whether to use a script for your podcast.
Speaker:Now, ignoring audio fiction for a moment, because obviously you want a script for that
Speaker:there's pros and cons to using a script for your show
Speaker:whether it's a solo show, an interview show, a co-host or anything like that.
Speaker:The pros obviously it keeps you on track
Speaker:so you've got all your questions ready to go, your talking points and everything in front of you
Speaker:so you don't really veer from the main topic.
Speaker:However, the pro can also be its con -
Speaker:by having everything in front of you, you can lose that organic feel
Speaker:where you're just having a conversation
Speaker:and you're now reading from bullet points in front of you or questions in front of you.
Speaker:It also means that sometimes you're not listening to your guest,
Speaker:if you've got a guest on your show, because you're looking at the next question,
Speaker:as opposed to listening to your guest and then taking the conversation in the direction an answer takes you.
Speaker:So, there's definitely pros and there's definitely cons,
Speaker:and really it comes down to your comfort zone.
Speaker:Do you feel comfortable reading from bullet points in a script?
Speaker:Or do you feel more comfortable with it being more organic,
Speaker:with the conversation going in a more organic direction?
Speaker:The choice really is yours.
Speaker:But it is a good idea to have at least some bullet points ready,
Speaker:and that way you will be able to keep the conversation on track.
Speaker:Until the next time, happy podcasting.
