And now, this week's episode.

Speaker:

At some stage in your podcasting journey,

Speaker:

you're gonna be asking yourself,

Speaker:

Is it time to upgrade my equipment?

Speaker:

Now this could be microphones, it could be the mixers that you use, it could be the hardware

Speaker:

or the software you're recording or editing into, but there will come a time when you'll

Speaker:

think do I need to upgrade? And I hate saying this, but it depends.

Speaker:

You might already have a great sound, even with the setup you're using at the moment.

Speaker:

I've said it before and I'll always say this, you don't need super expensive equipment to

Speaker:

get a great sound for your podcast.

Speaker:

The more important thing is making sure your recording environment is really good, so nice

Speaker:

soft surroundings, cushions, chairs, whatever you can put in there that takes away the echo

Speaker:

from hard walls, bare floors etc. If you do want to upgrade your equipment, start small and get

Speaker:

feedback from other podcasters and listeners to see what part of the podcast they enjoy.

Speaker:

Then if you want to upgrade your equipment you'll know which one to focus on. Maybe you do want to

Speaker:

upgrade to an XLR mic and use an audio interface for example, or maybe you want to upgrade your

Speaker:

interface and improve that side of things. But really you don't need to worry about upgrading

Speaker:

your equipment right away if your podcast sounds good and you're happy with the end result.

Speaker:

Until the next time, happy podcasting.

Speaker:

Thanks for listening. If you enjoy One Minute Podcast Tips,

Speaker:

be sure to share with your friends and other podcasters so they can enjoy it too.

He lives in beautiful Muskoka, Ontario, Canada with his wife and two kids, where he spends winters in front of a cozy fire and summers by the lake. Well, when he finds time away from podcasting, of course...
